I write better when I smoke. Don’t ask me to reduce it to a science.

I believe that although there is no evidence for the existence of a god, neither is there evidence that a god does not exist. And since there is in me an instinctive desire to believe that there is a god, then by default, I must believe that God exists.

This belief does not spill over to a belief in saints or any organized religion. Pushed up against a wall, with a gun to my head and asked to define the state of my spiritual life, I would call myself a humanist.

I believe in responsibility. I do not believe that choice can ever be absent; the alternatives might all be terrible, but in the end, there are still choices to make. No event ever begins and ends all by itself. An event is but the culmination of a series of choices and the outcome of any specific event will affect all other events that follow, therefore what one chooses at any particular point must be determined in consideration of the future.

I believe in governments. I am not an anarchist. But I believe also that governments should be limited to governing human relations, not the personal life of individuals except insofar as  the acts carried out in that personal life affect the personal lives of others or the community. This means I do not believe in censorship nor in the limitation of the concept of marriage to heterosexuals. This means I do not believe in the death penalty.

This also means that I believe very strict standards should be made to apply in determining a person’s responsibility for any act that harms another person or the community. For those of you who understand, suffice it to say I believe in Gowachin law.
