Hillack?
How’s that for a mash-up? In the era of Brangelina, Bennifer, and Tomkat, why not Hillack? Or Barlary?
Seriously.
More seriously, Hillary’s win over Barack has rattled pollsters in a big way, prompting people to ask: wtf happened? One possible explanation is that the people who were polled, LIED. Yep. That’s a possibility alright. They call it the Bradley effect. I call it human nature.
You see it everyday, bitchez; people hedging on there answers until they feel comfortable that they’ve figured out what the asker wants to hear. Sometimes, they don’t even have to hedge all that much. Like when - here in the Philippines - you’re asked by some pollster “are you happy with the government?” you just know that the popular, ergo, the right answer would be “HELL ,NO!”
Funny how no one ever even considers that possibility over here where polls are often considered gospel truth. Seems like, in these parts, questioning the credibility of the polled is yet another sacred cow.

Polls give the public what it sees and hears. It’s the deals in the backroom that spell out the real score. Then you get people pissed at the polling firms.
sheesh.
Sorry, to do this ROM but do you know John Crowley the sci-fi author. have you read him? I remember vaguely one of your commenters has read him but couldn’t find the link anymore. Been looking all over Manila bookstores.
Frankly, I’ve been looking out for his books for the past couple of years. I think JEQ was that reader, but not sure.
brianb:i know of him. unfortunately, i’ve been able to read only a snippet of little, big (from a review) a long time ago … but i do know he’s written a four-book series called Aegypt. I saw the books once in the states, but i’ve never seen them here.
jeg: you out there, luv? do you know john crowley? hehe. not to be confused with aleister, of course.
Yeah, heard great things about it. I can buy them online but I had an episode a few months ago where I had to pay customs. No idea why. National Bookstore’s book finder hasn’t replied yet. i have a very small window to devote on Crowley. Next month, I’ll be too busy.
This guy’s books has been nominated by Harold Bloom as modern classics.
Hi ROM, just bought Little, Big from a guy. Read 50 pages of it. Looks like this is going to be on my faves shelf with The Magic Mountain and Marius the Epicurean. Unbelievable language and storytelling. I feel like a little boy again curled in my bed with a flashlight to read.
Sorry, folks. I havent read John Crowley. Im really not that into fantasy fiction, although I like science fiction of the old school. John Varley et al..
But I’ll check out Crowley based on Brian’s recommendation. Maybe I can download a copy of one of his books from one of those internet, um, sources.
